Domestic Violence – SafetyNet
Program Description
Since 1998, the SafetyNet program has provided trauma-informed support and therapeutic services to adult, teen, and child victims of domestic violence throughout Palm Beach County. The program addresses both the immediate impact of abuse and its long-term effects on mental health, family stability, and child development.
Services are provided year-round in English and Spanish by experienced therapists and advocates trained in evidence-based and culturally competent care.
What sets SafetyNet apart is its holistic, bilingual approach to serving survivors of all ages, along with supportive services such as on-site childcare, limited transportation assistance, and strong partnerships with local shelters and community agencies.
SafetyNet’s goal is to help survivors heal from trauma, strengthen family relationships, and break the intergenerational cycle of violence through comprehensive intervention, prevention, and therapeutic support.
- Individual therapy and psychoeducational support groups for adults, teens, and children
- Crisis intervention, safety planning, advocacy, and court support
- Trauma-informed therapeutic services, including TF-CBT, EMDR, Play Therapy, Art Therapy, and Music Therapy
- Holistic case management and referrals for housing, employment, legal aid, and food assistance
- Prevention education and community outreach focused on healthy relationships and violence prevention
Does HomeSafe offer housing or shelter services?
While the SafetyNet program does not offer housing, we can connect clients to other community agencies that do.
Who is eligible for services?
Our services are available to adults, children, and families impacted by domestic violence. Services are provided regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or immigration status. If you are unsure whether you qualify, we encourage you to contact us so we can discuss your situation and connect you with appropriate support.
Are services free?
Yes. Domestic violence services are provided at no cost to participants. Through community partnerships and grant funding, we are able to offer counseling, advocacy, support groups, safety planning, and other supportive services free of charge to eligible individuals and families.
Should I leave my abusive partner? I’m scared and I don’t know what to do?
The most dangerous time for a victim of domestic violence is when they are attempting to leave their home. Abuse will often escalate and has a high chance of turning violent if it hasn’t already. Have a packed bag ready and know where you would go: a trusted neighbor, a family member, a coworker, etc.
Did I really experience domestic abuse? My partner never hit me.
Domestic abuse is not just physical, it’s also emotional, psychological, financial, and sexual. If your partner controls where you are allowed to be, keeps all of your money, makes you feel unworthy – you are being abused.
